Beliefs:
· At St. Marcellin School our Special Character is at the heart of all we do.

· In our Catholic schools we understand that in the Catholic curriculum area of Religious Education Tō Tātou Whakapono Our Faith takes precedence, it is tuakana (older sibling) and the NZC is teina (younger sibling).

Ta Tatou Whakapono - Religous Education Curriculum
Tō Tātou Whakapono Our Faith was approved by the New Zealand Catholic Bishops’ Conference in December 2021. Since then the National Centre for Religious Studies has been working closely with diocesan religious education advisors, managers of Catholic education, principals, teachers, and many other members of the Catholic community to provide resources to support teaching and learning.
· Religious Education leads to a deeper understanding of life and its purpose.
· Students develop an everyday relationship with God.
· Inclusive education is the catholic, Christian way.
· Students develop links to the parish and wider community through service and pastoral care deepening their understanding of social justice.
Holistic development of students including sexuality from a Catholic perspective.
· The teaching of Religious Education is integrated into all learning areas and experiences.
· Prayer and religious reflections with all students are an everyday occurrence where students are provided with many rich experiences and opportunities to encounter Christ.
Regular opportunities are provided for students to interact with the parish and carry out the mission of the Church.
