St Marcellin School is a Roman Catholic full primary school. We have a strong relationship with the Whanganui Catholic Parish and Holy Family Church. 

The school community, through the general school programme and in its religious education programme and observances, exercises the right to live and teach the values of Jesus Christ. Relationships between students, staff, the Board and parents are positive and the school enjoys strong support from the Springvale and Gonville communities. 

St Marcellin has a mix of NZ European, Maori, Pasifika, Indian and Asian students. 

We are a Decile 1, Full Primary School drawing from a wide variety of cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.

The school grounds are extensive, with the development of a cycle track built into the natural landscape and incorporated areas which has increased places for students to learn and play. 

We have an attractive library and chapel.
