OUR HISTORY

St. Marcellin School is a co-educational Catholic full primary school for Years 1 - 8 students. The school is located on the site of what was once the Marist Brothers School. Originally, all Year 7 and Year 8 students from Whanganui Catholic primary schools were the first to attend St. Marcellin School.

In the 1970's the Marist Brothers were farewelled and the school became known as Marcellin Primary under a lay principal, Mr Maurie OÇonnell.  St. Anthony’s Primary School, in Gonville,  closed in May 1983 and all its pupils were transferred to what was Marcellin School, whereby the school now become a full primary, for Years 1 - 8.
